INGREDIENTS TO PREPARE IDLY:

1. Black gram-1 cup
2. Idly Rava-2 cups
3. Rice flakes -1/4 cup
4. Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon


    RECIPE:

  • Take a small bowl.
  • Take the black gram into a bowl and wash it 2-3 times.
  • Then soak it for 4-5hours by adding 1/2 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to it. [Fenugreek seeds help us for a fluffy and soft idly]
  • Now, Rice flakes don't need to be soaked for long. Soaking them for 1/2 or 1hour before preparing the batter would be sufficient.
  • Now take idly Rava into a bowl and wash it at least twice with water
  • Let it be in water till we grind black gram.
  • Now, let's grind black gram and flattened rice after 4-5hours by adding 1/4 glass water [or as much as you needed]
  • Grind it till it becomes a soft paste.
  • It easily require 10-15minutes to obtain a soft paste.
  • Now, squeeze off the excess water from the Rava and take it into another bowl.
  • Then mix both rava and the soft paste of black gram and flattened rice thoroughly [add some amount of water if needed]
  • Now seal off the lid and let it be for 4-5hours.
  • After 4/5hours mix the batter again.
  • Before preparing, take as much as idly batter desired into a bowl and mix it  by adding little water.
  • Add sufficient salt and baking soda to it and mix.
  • Then immediately you have to put that on the idly plates.
  • We need to cook the idlys for 15minutes [10minutes on high flame and 5minutes on low flame]
  • We need to open it after 5minutes.
  • Now, the idly is ready.
